In this weblog i will talk about anything that comes to mind... mainly about DotNetNuke, but also about other stuff

This blog post is a little belated. The new version of PageLocalization (PL) (version 3.0) was released just before OpenForce North America. Going there, getting the flu and work has kept me busy ever since.

New Features

This new version of PL is a leap forward from the previous version in more than one way. The administrative interface has undergone a major overhaul, and is much more concise. The left hand side of the module now shows a treeview control, displaying all pages in the portal....

I've been working on a new version of PageLocalization, and while the module is not completely finished, i would like to invite people to join a small alfa/beta test group, as the module has a few new features that I'd like to have tested thoroughly before releasing the module to the public

New features already implemented are:

complete overhaul of UI. The module now uses the DNNTree webcontrol to display all pages in the site. Clicking a page will show edit fields for that specific page ...

well.. it's been quite a while since i wrote my last blog here. I've been extremely busy, both business and personal, for the last 8 months or so. I've been away on vacation for 3 weeks... lots of new ideas popped into my mind, so... bear with me ;)

Phew... it took some sleepless nights, but the site has been succesfully upgraded from 3.2.2 to 4.4.1

Today, it has come to my attention that some site is offering downloads of some of my modules, and stating nowhere that they are mine. Also, several other modules by other vendors are offered for download.

I really don't understand such behaviour. Some people seem to thing that if something is free, that that is equal to being able to do anything they like with it. Needless to say, i sent them a mail requesting to remove the content.

[Update February 3 2007]At this moment, the downloads have been...

Last saturday, a few European Core Team members and Project Team Leads were together for an informal get together, where we had a great opportunity to get to know eachother. We even managed to talk about other things than DNN.

The meeting was the idea of Charles Nurse, on vacation in the UK, it was decided that the meeting would be in Amsterdam. Sebastian Leupold published some pictures of the event here: http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/182/Default.aspx

It's been a while since I blogged, and as usual I have the usual excuse: busy busy busy busy....

Let me do a short recap of everything that  happened in the last few months:

I became project team lead of the Announcement Module (check out info on that on the DNN Announcements Project Page) I've been on vacation in Italy and Croatia. In Italy me and Mieke, my girlfriend, enjoyed watching the opera Aida in the Arena of Verona. In Croatia we rented a sailboat with Miekes 2 sisters and their boyfriends...

Monday May 16 and Tuesday May 17 I attended the SDC in Papendal, Netherlands, as a speaker in the DotNetNuke Track. My session was about creating hybrid module/skin objects. I showed how to make a module that can also be used as a skin object. I will post the original code soon (i have to rename it, because i found out just a day before SDC that there is already another skinobject with the same name), and will add some extra features as well in the near future.

I'm very pleased i got a chance to meet Shaun Walker, Vicenç Masanas, Sebastian Leupold. There were 10 sessions about DNN in 2 days, 3 by Shaun, 3 by Vicenç, 2 by Ernst Peter Tamminga, 1 by Peter Schotman and 1 by me. We had a room with 32 seats to our disposal, some sessions where full house, others a bit less. One of the sessions of Vicenç turned into a discussion on Content Localization in the DNN Core application so that was very usefull.

I thought I'd write up a small tutorial about how to use the Apollo PageLocalization Module, as this module has proved to be somewhat difficult to manage for site administrators new to dynamic localization
