Request: Random and limit number of Announcments

Hi!

And thank you for a great product, I have been using it from 2007.

Reasantly been doing some DNN sites again and I am missing a feature in th product.

Just upgraded to v 2.0.1 but still did not find the wanted function.

I would like to have a limited number of published announcements shown at random order.

Could also think of the same need but with links.

Have I missed some setting to do this or would it be possibe to get this function in a (soon) future release?

Upgded to DNN 05.04.04 and MLAdvAnnouncements is not working

Hello everyone,

My client was forced to upgrade from DNN 4.9 to 5.4.4 due to a required module that was only 5+ compatible.

After the upgrade my MLAdvAnnouncements is not working.

I am on version 1.0.3

I get the error:

I thought this was now 5.1+ compatible.

As a side note, my MLHTML is not working either. The language selection does not seem to be working. The languages doe not change now.

I would like to know if it's possible to implement "pages" to this module.
I need to have example, the page should show only x (5) articles in each page.

Can you make this, and how much will this cost ?

After adding the MLAdvAnnouncement to a tab (page) I get the following error as soon as I switch to edit or view mode. The Settings mode works fine !
I'm using DNN501. Any idea ?

Error with Cache and DNN5.1

Hi Erik,

we recently upgraded from DNN 4.9.4 to DNN 5.1.1.
So, we purchased the current versions of MLAdvAnnouncements and PageLocalization and installed it.

Now I faced a problem with MLAdvAnnouncements under DNN 5.1.1 while Cachetime for the Announcement module is > 0.

Example:
DNN 4.9.4 have a tab (page) with a MLHTML module (current module version, CacheTime=3600) and a MLAdvAnnouncements module (current module version, Display mode: Links, CacheTime=1800). Under Host Settings the Cache Setting is "Heavy". And everything works perfectly.
Now I upgraded to DNN 5.1.1 (with Page Localization version 5).

If I delete the cache, restart the Application, go to the tab with the modules and click a link with a postback (i.e. Login button or submit button of the search field), I get an error from DNN: "An error has occurred."

If I call the tab again and click the postback-link again, it works. Later (after the CacheTime is over), I call again and the error occurred again, but again only once.

If I set the CacheTime of the Announcement module to 0, it works without errors.

In the Site Log I can find following Errors:

Error using MLAdvAnnouncements

I have bought MLAdvAnnouncements, and installed it on my server. When I insert the module on my webpage I get the following error message.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall. There are no errors when the module installed, but the error on the page remains.

What is wrong, and how do I solve it ?

2000 Character problem

I am having an issue with the module stating that I can only have 2000 characters in the description. This is creating Mucho Problemas (Many Problems). I have counted the charcters using several diffent programs and I am less than 2000 characters. Any ideas what is causing these issues?

ModuleLocalization Thumbnails Bug for only some accounts?

I'm having a really weird problem trying to add an image to a news item.
When editing an old or creating a new news item, with the portals admin account, an Image cannot be added without me being thrown out to the login page. Or rather, It can be added from the dropdown list. But then it doesn’t show up. All You get is the little red cross in the top left corner of where the picture should have been. And then when I try to press update (or do anything else) I get thrown out to the login page.
But if I use the host account the image can be added, and viewed in edit mode. Then if I login in with the portals admin account again I can see the image in view mode. But as soon as I try to edit it, I get the thumbnail with the red-cross again. And then when I click anything else I get the login page again.
I can even upload a new image with the portals admin account and choose it in the dropdown list, but still, it does not show up. It’s like the thumbnail generating (ModuleLocalization/thumbnails/thumbnail.ashx) does not work for this account. As if it does not have permission for that.
If I cut out the thumbnail-url and paste it into a new browser window, the thumbnail shows up. But it just does not work inside the edit-window.

Have I missed some important setting when it comes to access for this to work? Is it a known bug?

I’d be so thankful if anyone could shed some light over this problem?!

Link inside Announcement disappears

Hi,

Recently, I lost the capability of adding a link inside a MLAdvAnnouncement item. I am using the basic announcements functionality and inside the editor, when I add a link (<a href...></a>), either in code view or with the editor popup, and click "save and submit", the page reloads and the link is gone from the item.

This behaviour is quite recent; it worked well before and it still works in other portals on the same server.

I've been checking settings, restarting the server, ..., but to no avail; any help/tips would be immensely appreciated.

The label of the question is to short. when i write the question-text in the title then i have problems that the Anncouncement-Tools cuts me the last words.

for example:

Question: "Haben die Östrogenkonzentration und die Anzahl der großen Follikel einen Einfluß auf die Nidationschancen? "
Answer: "Nein. Die Nidationsrate ist unabhängig von diesen Parametern."

when you save:

image thumbnails not created ?

Hi - I'm using the latest version (sorry for no ver #) of the MLAdvAnnouncements module and supporting modules in images mode. I'm having a problem with the thumbnail generation.

When opting to automatically create thumbnails, the DesktopModules\MLAdvAnnouncements\thumbs\462\en-US directory is created correctly, but no thumb graphic is present in that directory. Instead, the full size image is merely rendered smaller using thumbs.ashx and so it's a very large image file (64KB to render a 200px X 200px jpg image) instead of a small thumbnail graphic.

I've tried with a couple different jpg files and the Everyone group now has full access to the /thumbs directory.

Ideas of how to fix this?

Description and Link mode

Hi,

Would it be possible to add the description in link mode. Or to have the title become the link itself in the announcement mode instead of have the mode info... link at the bottom. Is there was templates, it would be pretty easy to do but is there a way I could modify one of the acsx file to achieve this
