 I've just updated some of my portals from 4.9.4 to 5.2.1 and noticed that PageLocalization 2.2 wasn't working anymore. So I looked for the new version and first tried 3.0 (received an error during installation) and then 5.0 (received another error during installation). So currently, my portals are a bit broken :-(

The error I'm currently getting (during the PageLocalization 5.0 installation attempts):

QL Execution resulted in following Exceptions: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Invalid column name 'PageHeadText'

This seems to occur in 05.00.08.SqlDataProvider

The problem I was having with the 3.0 update/install was:

I downloaded both versions from Snowcovered. Any ideas what's going on there?

there is an error in the 5.0.8 installscript, which is only visible if you are upgrading from very old version of page localization. I will post an updated version soon which will work when upgrading from pre 3.x version. Alternatively, you could upgrade your PL to the latest 3.x version while still on dnn 4, and then upgrade to 5.0 .8 after you upgraded DNN. This assumes you have full backups of everythihg, but i guess that is a safe assumption ;)

Ah, ok ... so I'd revert back to 4.9.4, upgrade to PageLocalization 3.0, then do the upgrade to 5.2 and then upgrade PageLocalization to 5.0. Oh ... that'll work with one of my portals, but not with another one that I had upgraded to 5.1.x a little while ago (I'm using TransMenu there, so I didn't even notice there was a problem with PageLocalization). It's also great to know this because with one portal that is still on DNN 4.9, I can upgrade to 3.0 before doing the DNN update without any hassles at all :-)

Do you have a previous version (before 5.0.8) that would still work with the very old versions of PageLocalization? Or how long would you estimate the corrected version would take? ... or: is there any way I could manually fix this directly on the database?

Ouch ... seems like going to PageLocalization 3.0, then upgrading DNN to 5.2.1 is not working that well. There might still be some other weird dependency but I just tried doing that on the only portal I haven't upgraded to 5.2.1, yet (on a backup-installation ... fortunately ;-) ).

After upgrading to 5.2.1, I can't access that portal at all anymore, getting a screen with an error message and the following parameter in the URL (seems like that's the error message):

error=Invalid+column+name+'AdminTabId'.%0D%0AInvalid+column+name+'AdminTabId'.%0D%0ACould+not+use+view+or+function+'dbo.vw_Apollo_TabLocalization_Tabs'+because+of+binding+errors.&content=0

Any idea what might be going on there?

are you sure you are using PL 5.0.8? I am pretty sure 5.0.8 solved that particular error.

Actually, the version of PageLocalization that gave me this problem is 3.0.4. I upgraded a DNN 4.9.0 installation with a very old version of PageLocalization (2.2 but that's just the last recent updated I had installed) to PageLocalization 3.0.4. Then, I upgraded DNN to 5.2.1 - and then I can't access the portal anymore due to that error.

So, I didn't even get to install 5.0.8 on that portal anymore. When I took the path first updating DNN and then updating PageLocalization, I got the previously mentioned errors.

ok that explains it. You need to upgrade the module after you upgraded to dnn 5.2.1. You can do this in a couple of ways: 1) add the 5.0.8 install package to /install/modules. it will then install automatically during the dnn upgrade. 2). add it to the /install/modules folder AFTER you upgraded DNN, and than navigate to /install/install.aspx?mode=installresources.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but DNN 5 breaks the module, and the dnn 5 version of the module cannot be used in dnn 4. So this is the only way to go about it....

Do you have any timeframe for when this will be posted? Or could I maybe fix it directly in the database?

ok.. i am having trouble setting up the proper test environment to test the new version i have available. Its a time constraint really, since it involves multiple dnn installs and upgrades etc.

Hi there . I'm trying to set up page localization on my portals ... my dnn version is 5 and page localization version is 02.04.04 . inf act it's not working ..... upgrades are for free or i need to buy another time the same module ?

my mistake... i'm working on 4.09.05 with pl v 02.04.04 . Which is the best solution for me ??? sorry for my stupid question . ? I've been working with dnn since december....

if you are working with DNN 4.9.5, your best solution is PL 3.0.4. If you are running DNN 5 (any version), the version to go with is PL 5.0.9. Mind you, if you buy PL 3.x, for now the upgrade to 5.x is free. There used to be an almost free upgrade from PL 2.4.4. to PL 3.0, but that was discontinued.

If you are working with DNN since december, why is it that you are using an old version of PageLocalization? that was discontinued a long time ago!

I upgraded my site to the version 3 of the module and when we upgrade DNN from v4.9.4 to v5.2.1 we get this error.

did you upgrade the module to version 05.00.09?
